Position: Technical Trainer (Orillia)
Location: Central Patricia

Job Overview  A Technical Training Instructor is responsible for identifying training requirements for both internal and external customers related to the Caterpillar product line. The instructor schedules, develops, and presents all necessary courses, traveling to customer sites or branches as required to ensure continued development of Toromont’s and our customers’ workforce. Working independently and as a team player, they ensure Toromont and customer technical support staff are well prepared to execute safe, efficient, professional, and comprehensive repairs.
Responsibilities   Identify training requirements for internal and external customers.
Schedule, develop, and present training courses and seminars related to the Caterpillar machine product line.
Travel to customer sites or branches as needed.
Communicate with Service Training Instructors, Apprenticeship Training Coordinator, Shop Supervisors, PSMs, sales personnel, and customers to identify training requirements and develop/maintain course schedules.
Schedule, utilize, and maintain classroom, training bay, tools, projectors, and equipment.
Perform training department administrative tasks, including preparing evaluations and reports and providing feedback to service leadership on technician development.
Remain current with the Caterpillar machine product line through self-development and formal training.
Perform other duties as delegated by the Service Training Supervisor.
Qualifications   College diploma in Heavy Equipment, Truck and Coach, or equivalent training and experience.
Provincial Heavy Equipment Certification, Mechanics license, or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing Caterpillar equipment, preferably with experience as lead hand, field service technician, or other higher profile position.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Caterpillar Service Software.
Benefits and Compensation

Pay Type:

Full Time, Permanent
Compensation: $86,000.00 – $96,000.00 per year. The listed base salary is just one component of our total rewards package, and performance‑based or discretionary bonuses may be available.
Competitive total rewards including wages, benefits, and premiums (as eligible).
