Location: Comox
Sessional Instructor, Early Childhood Care & Education (CV Base) The teaching faculty assignment involves the theory course ECC 163:
Child, Family, and Community at the Comox Valley campus. The role requires facilitation, curriculum development, and student support using a face‑to‑face delivery method.
Location Comox Valley (CV)
Schedule Friday 8:30‑11:30 (25 % appointment)
Pay Annual salary range $70,437–$112,872 (at 100 % appointment) based on qualifications and experience.
Duties & Responsibilities Plan and prepare learning materials and instructional activities.
Use diverse instructional approaches and materials to address varied learning needs.
Teach assigned content and meet curriculum requirements.
Direct student learning in a supportive, caring environment.
Maintain availability during office hours for student support.
Communicate learning outcomes, assessment methods, and evaluate student progress.
Submit grades and maintain student records in a timely manner.
Adhere to College educational policies and contribute to program development.
Advise the Department Chair on resource needs, enrollment management, and health and safety issues.
Demonstrate computer application proficiency and continuous professional development.
Participate in committees and other institutional activities as required.
Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field and an ECE certificate or diploma.
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Care & Education or related field preferred.
Minimum three years in Early Childhood Care & Education settings and/or teaching with practicum supervision.
Current awareness of community‑based ECE issues and collaborative experience.
Experience with Indigenous pedagogies and culture.
Post‑secondary teaching experience or adult education experience.
Experience in curriculum development incorporating technology.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Commitment to current ECE philosophies and practices.
Creative, motivating teaching strategies in distributed learning environments.
Effective teamwork and collaborative relationships.
Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
Willingness to learn and use online learning management systems (D2L Brightspace, Teams).
Proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft Office suite.
Valid BC driver’s licence.
