Educational Assistant at Father Mercredi

Location: Northeastern Alberta (Fort Chipewyan)

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant at Father Mercredi for grades 7-12. This role supports student growth in cognitive, communication, and physical development through effective collaboration.

As an Educational Assistant, you will work full-time in High School Vocational Education, providing essential support under the guidance of teachers and specialists. Utilizing your Educational Assistant Certificate, you will implement behavior management strategies and facilitate learning outcomes. Additionally, your ability to assist students with diverse needs, including emotional and behavioral disabilities, will be crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students' cognitive and social growth

• Collaborate with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams

• Implement individualized teaching strategies

• Monitor and observe student behavior

• Provide effective supervision during activities

Requirements:

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma

• Non Violent Crisis Intervention training

• Ability to swim 50 meters (level 1 and
2)

• Experience with students with disabilities

• Physical capability to assist with student mobility
