Temporary First Nations Language Teacher

Location: Central Yukon (Dawson City)

Serve as a Temporary First Nations Language Teacher at Golden Horn Elementary School in Whitehorse, promoting Southern Tutchone language and culture. Empower students through culturally relevant teaching practices.

This role within the Department of Education offers the chance to impact educational outcomes through Southern Tutchone language instruction. The selected candidate will engage learners with creative, place-based methods that reflect the values of the Kwanlin Dün and Ta'an Kwäch'än communities. Responsibilities include fostering a love for language and cultural identity among students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct students in the Southern Tutchone language

• Adjust lessons to support individual learning needs

• Build collaborative relationships with First Nations and language professionals

Requirements:

• Yukon Native Language Centre or similar qualification

• Language proficiency in Southern Tutchone for teaching
