Mînî Thnî Community School is seeking a passionate and committed High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher who believes that every student belongs, every student is capable of growth, and every student deserves to be met where they are.

We are looking for more than someone who simply teaches English. We are looking for an educator who builds relationships, sees the strengths and potential in every learner, and creates a classroom where students feel safe, valued, challenged, and connected.

Our students come to us with different strengths, experiences, interests, learning needs, and levels of readiness. The successful candidate will understand that effective teaching begins with knowing students well.

You will be expected to:

• Use differentiated instruction to provide multiple pathways for students to access learning and demonstrate their understanding.
• Meet students at their current level while maintaining high expectations for growth and achievement.
• Create an inclusive classroom where students of all abilities know that they belong and are valued members of the learning community.
• Use assessment and student data to identify strengths, gaps, and next steps for learning.
• Collaborate with Student Success teachers, Educational Assistants, specialists, families, and school administration to remove barriers and help students succeed.
• Build strong, respectful relationships because we recognize that students learn best when they know the adults in their school believe in them.

ELA should help students become confident readers, writers, speakers, listeners, thinkers, and storytellers. Students should see that literacy matters not only for earning credits and graduating, but also for communicating their ideas, understanding the world around them, advocating for themselves, and pursuing their goals.

Teachers are expected to plan intentionally, assess student learning regularly, provide meaningful feedback, and ensure that instruction remains connected to required curriculum outcomes.

At Mînî Thnî Community School, education is connected to Stoney Nakoda language, culture, identity, community, and the land.

We are seeking a teacher who approaches this responsibility with humility, curiosity, respect, and a willingness to learn.

The successful candidate will look for meaningful opportunities to connect ELA curriculum with Stoney Nakoda perspectives, stories, language, history, contemporary experiences, and ways of knowing. This includes collaborating with Stoney Language and Culture staff, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, community members, and colleagues.

Learning does not have to remain within four classroom walls.

Teachers are encouraged to incorporate outdoor education and land-based learning into their instructional practice and to see the land as a place where curriculum, culture, identity, storytelling, observation, reflection, and relationships can come together.

High school is an important bridge between where students are today and where they want to go tomorrow.

Our responsibility is not simply to help students complete courses. It is to help them see possibilities for themselves.

The successful candidate will help students develop the literacy, communication, critical-thinking, confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills they will need for life beyond high school.

Whether a student's future includes post-secondary education, trades, employment, entrepreneurship, further training, community leadership, or another pathway, we want our students leaving Mînî Thnî Community School knowing who they are, recognizing their strengths, and believing they have something important to contribute.
