Position - Temporary Teacher
Assignment Type - Temporary to the return of incumbent
FTE/Point Time - 0.75 Point Time
Schedule :
Semester I - Block 1, 2, Lunch and first part of Block 3
Position includes Cafeteria 9-12 and Professional Cook Training
Qualifications
All postings require:
A valid BC Teaching Certificate
Commitment to support the full range of student abilities
Effective communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
Commitment to continuing professional development
Successful experience with adapting and modifying materials for a diversity of learners
Working knowledge of using computing technology to support learning
A commitment to the Principles of Inclusive Schools and Principles of Learning
Specific to this posting:
Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
Red Seal Chef Certification or equivalent training
FOODSAFE Level 2
Demonstrated successful experience teaching Culinary Arts/Cafeteria at thesecondarylevel
Familiarity with Moodle as a communication device and teaching aid to support student learning and online assignments
Willingness and ability to take on various catering events in school and community to support key learning outcomes for Chefs in training
A strong advocate of sustainable food products
Working knowledge of restaurant machinery
Knowledge of post-secondary training as it pertains to the food industry
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to adjust curriculum and assessment strategies to meet the needs of a wide range of students
