Kumsheen Shch Ema-meet School enrols approximately 98 students in kindergarten through grade 12, of which 99% are of Indigenous ancestry. Kumsheen Shch Ema-meet School is located in the Village of Lytton which lies on the unceded and traditional territory of the Nlaka'pamux First Peoples. The school's Action Plan for Learning guides the work of the school.
REQUIREMENTS AND
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant must have or be eligible for certification to teach in British Columbia and possess:
Qualifications and/or experience in the teaching area/grade level posted;
Knowledge of the BC curriculum and competencies;
Strong assessment practices, including assessment as and for learning;
Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into the curriculum;
The ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies to accommodate the learning needs of all students;
Successful experience integrating experiential, on-the-land and/or inquiry learning opportunities into the curriculum;
A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills;
A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting;
A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;
The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
The salary range for full-time teaching positions within Gold Trail School District is $63,735 to $116,190, with placement in accordance with provisions in the Collective Agreement. The district offers a competitive benefits and pension package.
