Salary Information
Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement, based on the candidate's education and experience.
Duties And Responsibilities
The primary assignment of the successful candidate will be to provide instruction and evaluate student progress by planning, organizing, and managing learning activities and resources in both classroom and shop settings.
The instructor will incorporate their own teaching style to existing lesson plans by preparing and implementing various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives; establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods and meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress and identify and resolve problem areas in teaching and learning; communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning by maintaining appropriate classroom discipline following College policies and procedures;
and actively participate in and contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard.
The incumbent may instruct any courses in the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology Program with special emphasis on coursework relating to avionics. The instructor will provide practical instruction in the safe use of hand tools and shop equipment (including calibration equipment) used in the installation and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and avionics components in modern aircraft. The incumbent will also perform other related duties consistent with maintaining quality learner-centered instruction.
Screening Criteria
Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's license, Category "E". Extensive training in aircraft electronics and electrical systems. PLUS specific aircraft "type" training may be required.
Or:
Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's license, Category "M1/M2" and evidence of prior certification privileges for Avionics, PLUS specific aircraft "type" training may be required.
Five years' recent, relevant work experience.
B.Ed. (Secondary/Post-Secondary);
Eligibility for membership in an appropriate professional association;
Instructor training and experience teaching at a post-secondary level;
Operations/managerial experience in the occupation (assets).
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of the aircraft maintenance industry particularly as it relates to avionics.
Understanding of classroom management and instructional techniques currently being utilized in a teaching and learning environment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs of students.
Proficiency and/or a willingness to embrace teaching and learning technologies to support the student learning experience.
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
Commitment to teaching excellence and to supporting and delivering a positive student learning experience.

Verification of credentials and applicable licenses, certifications, and/or professional memberships as required for the position.
Credentials obtained outside of Canada will require an evaluation to determine their Canadian educational equivalency. This evaluation must support the educational requirements for the position.
