Location: Gingolx
Make a difference at Nathan Barton Elementary School as a Nisga'a Language & Culture Assistant. This temporary role with Nisga'a School District No. 92 is focused on K-7 inclusive education.
The position, effective September 8, 2026, and lasting until June 25, 2027, involves assisting with language skill development in K-7 classrooms. Collaborating with the Nisga'a Language teacher, you will develop engaging educational strategies for students and help plan cultural activities within the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist teachers in K-7 classrooms for language education
• Attend monthly meetings with the Language teacher
• Contribute to intermediate students' language skills
• Work closely with school administration and staff
• Build constructive relationships with parents and students
Requirements:
• Completion of Grade 12 education
• Familiarity with Nisga'a culture and history
• Training in the First Nations Language Essentials
• Fluent in Nisga'a or eagerness to learn
• Experience in a dynamic elementary environment
