Professional Support   Student Accessibility Specialist (PS4)   Education   Cumberland Campus   Springhill, Nova Scotia   Student Supports   Term, Full-time Position:
Commencing approximately October 15, 2026 and ending approximately August 14, 2027

The salary scale for Professional Support 4 is based on steps that range from $80,335.45 - $. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $88,020.79 annually.
Qualifications   Qualifications and Occupational Experience     The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Bachelor's degree with a focus on adult education, neuroeducation, special education, psychology, social work, or other related field. Certificate in Applied Disability Studies is considered an asset.
You have a minimum of three years of recent and relevant occupational experience developing and supporting academic accommodation plans for students with disabilities in a post-secondary environment.
You have strong demonstrated experience using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Microsoft Teams, and have relevant experience with case file management, assistive technologies, and learning management systems.
You have specific knowledge and understanding of using online environments to support students.
You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
You have demonstrated knowledge of adult learning and student development principles, disabilities, and learning support intervention.
You have experience in workshop preparation, delivery, and facilitation.
You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students.

You demonstrate a high level of problem solving, critical thinking and professional judgement while acting independently to serve students holistically and equitably under parameters of policy and external agreements.

You demonstrate understanding of and skill in interviewing techniques and professional boundaries, including privacy and confidentiality.

You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in assistive technology and developing accommodation plans.
You have specific knowledge and understanding of diverse populations including Indigenous populations.
You understand universal design principles to model and promote accessibility among students, colleagues, and educational partners
You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to organizing supports and accommodations for students.
You have proven records management skills and abilities in keeping confidential case notes, creating and maintaining electronic student files, data logging and tracking.
Excellent communication skills while working with colleagues and serving students in both physical and virtual environments.
