About the Role JDS Energy & Mining is seeking a proactive, safety-focused Environmental Technician to support environmental monitoring and compliance activities at a mining project in the interior of British Columbia. This is a camp-based, fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) position operating on a rotational schedule, with full camp accommodations provided while on site. The Environmental Technician will execute field-based environmental programs and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
This role is critical in supporting responsible resource development by implementing monitoring programs, identifying environmental risks, and ensuring that site activities align with environmental management plans and permit conditions.

Key Responsibilities Execute environmental monitoring programs, including surface water, groundwater, effluent, and air quality sampling
Conduct routine environmental inspections to ensure compliance with permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements
Collect, record, and manage environmental data using standardized procedures and digital systems
Support wildlife, vegetation, and habitat monitoring programs, including documenting observations and incidents
Inspect and maintain erosion and sediment control measures
Assist in the implementation of environmental management and mitigation plans
Support spill response, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking
Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment and field instruments
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly environmental reports for internal teams and regulators
Collaborate with site operations, engineering teams, and environmental specialists to support project execution
Identify non-compliance issues and recommend practical, field-based solutions
Promote environmental awareness and best practices across all site personnel
Ensure all work is conducted safely and in alignment with company policies and project objectives
