This role designs and supports electrical systems for custom industrial automation equipment, including PLC programming and machine commissioning.

, you will be responsible for designing, testing, commissioning, and supporting electrical control systems for advanced automation and assembly solutions. You will work closely with project management and engineering teams to deliver world‑class automated equipment while ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality systems.

Designing, developing, and supporting electrical control systems for automation equipment and machineryEnsuring compliance with all applicable Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, CSA, UL, and company standards)Testing and troubleshooting PLC and HMI programsSupporting machine installation, testing, debugging, and commissioning during startupsPerforming Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) support and providing remote troubleshooting assistance to field service teamsConducting Proof of Concept activities for complex technical challengesCollaborating with engineering and project management teams to design and deliver automated assembly solutionsCreating and maintaining electrical documentation for new and existing equipmentParticipating in continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and controlsTraveling to Johnson Electric manufacturing facilities as required to support project executionPerforming other related duties as requiredWhat We’re Looking For
Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Electromechanical disciplinesStrong experience in industrial automation to "hit the ground running."Minimum 4+ years of extensive experience designing industrial electrical control systems using EPLAN or equivalent schematic software, with the capability to adopt EPLAN rapidly and apply it effectively in live production projects.Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety compliance, and standards for industrial automation and robotic systemsAbility to create, read, and interpret electrical schematics and control system designsExpertise with PLC and HMI systemsExperience commissioning machines, including:
I/O checkout
Ethernet/IP device configuration
Machine safety setup and validation
Troubleshooting automation issuesStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office toolsHands‑on technical aptitude (capable of safely swapping components when required)Experience with Solid Works for pneumatic/mechanical drawings is an assetAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesStrong communication skills, both written and verbalHigh integrity, dependability, and results‑driven mindsetKey Competencies
