Position: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 2-3
Location: Shubenacadie

Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources—including biodiversity, forests, geological resources, provincial parks, and the land we manage. The Department of Natural Resources is responsible for the development, management, conservation, and protection of forest, mineral, parks, and wildlife resources and the administration of the province’s Crown land. Aviation Services provides helicopter support for all provincial government departments and agencies.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Carrying out airframe, engine and associated system inspections, repairs, and/or modification to department rotary‑wing aircraft in accordance with the regulations and procedures dictated by Transport Canada Aviation, Department of Natural Resources Maintenance Control and Policy Manual.
  • Certifying repairs and work that is accomplished in accordance with the procedures established by Transport Canada Aviation, Department of Natural Resources Maintenance Control and Policy Manual and other applicable airworthiness approved agencies.
  • Cleaning and servicing aircraft; cleaning and maintaining hangars generally and work areas specifically.
  • Inspecting and certifying work carried out by the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 1’s and 2’s who cannot certify work on their own.
  • Carrying out independent inspections and random quality assurance checks of work completed by Aircraft Maintenance Engineers on Department of Natural Resources aircraft.
Qualifications for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 2
  • Valid AME license issued by Transport Canada in the M1 and/or M2 category.
  • Successful completion of a Transport Canada–approved Aircraft Maintenance training program.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent license from another province.
  • Resident of or willing to relocate to Nova Scotia and able to respond within 1 hour to Shubenacadie base while on call.
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally travel overnight within or outside of the province.
Qualifications for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer 3
  • Valid AME license issued by Transport Canada in the M1 and/or M2 category for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Completed a Transport Canada–approved Type Training Course(s) on the Airbus H‑125 airframe and Safran Arriel 2 series engine.
  • Successful completion of a Transport Canada–approved Aircraft Maintenance training program.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent license from another province.
  • Resident of or willing to relocate to Nova Scotia and able to respond within 1 hour to Shubenacadie base while on call.
  • Willingness to travel and occasionally travel overnight within or outside of the province.
Assets
  • Experience in servicing, maintaining, and inspecting rotor‑wing aircraft.
  • Experience working with Win Air or another maintenance tracking software.
  • Completion of a Human Performance in Aviation Maintenance (HPIAM) course.
  • Completion of an Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificate.

Salary Range

$2,943.85 – $3,920.00 Bi‑Weekly
