Overview
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, Community Services (DM), the Assistant Deputy Minister, Service Nunavut (ADM) plays a pivotal role within the government, overseeing the efficient delivery of a wide range of government programs and services. This position operates within the framework of enhancing service excellence, leveraging technology, and optimizing processes to ensure exceptional client experiences. The ADM is also responsible for overseeing service delivery strategies related to Motor Vehicle services, ensuring adherence to safety standards, legislation, and service quality initiatives.
Responsibilities
The ADM provides leadership and strategic direction for the effective and efficient delivery of government programs and services related to motor vehicles, safety services, consumer affairs, and the Government Liaison Offices. The ADM is accountable for developing and approving policies, processes and training programs that align with the Nunavut Building Code Act, the Technical Standards and Safety Act and the Fire Prevention Act, ensuring adherence to these Acts and their respective regulations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this role will have ten years of senior management experience in the public or private sector, including at least five years in a progressively responsible leadership position. A recognized university degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred. This is a Position of Trust; therefore, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is mandatory. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Languages & Cultural Competency
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
