The Ministry of Forestry and Parks supports the well‑being of Albertans through sustainable development and management of Alberta’s lands, forests, and parks. The ministry addresses land management, access, compliance and enforcement, and appeals and dispute resolution with respect to public lands in Alberta. It provides Albertans and visitors with opportunities to explore unique natural landscapes, engage in nature-based experiences and outdoor recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities- Assess applications for land use activities on Crown land, ensuring alignment with legislation, policy, and sustainability principles.
- Ensure regulatory compliance through inspections, audits, and enforcement, including reclamation and incident resolution.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on regulatory processes to a wide range of stakeholders, including municipalities, industry, Indigenous communities, and the general public.
- Conduct field inspections and monitor land use to verify compliance with authorizations.
- Collaborate with other regulatory bodies and government departments on integrated land use decisions.
- Apply professional expertise across environmental, regulatory, and land management disciplines.
- Contribute to policy development and program improvement through operational feedback.
- Work independently in both office and field environments, including remote areas and varied weather conditions.

Qualifications- A completed 4-year degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Technology, Forest Technology, Natural Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of related experience with the principles and practices of integrated land management.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent).
Equivalencies may be considered:
- A related two-year diploma plus 6 years related experience.
- Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
- Experience in administering applicable government legislation, regulations, and policies such as the Public Lands Act and related statutes.
- Working knowledge of the public lands application process.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement, both internal and external, such as with industry, recreation groups, environmental organizations, Indigenous communities, and municipalities.
- Experience operating specialized equipment such as electronic information and tracking systems, ATVs, 4x4 trucks in off‑highway conditions, GPS units, and trailer units.
- Experience with ArcGIS.
