Fire Prevention Technician

Position: Fire Prevention Technician, Kativik Regional Government
Location: Ontario Centre (Queensville)

Kativik Regional Government seeks a Fire Prevention Technician to enhance public safety programs and apply fire safety codes in Nunavik. This challenging role includes community education and code enforcement.

As part of the KRG Civil Security Department, you will develop and deliver fire prevention programs across northern villages. Your expertise will help verify fire protection systems and conduct fire investigations. Collaborating with local fire brigades, you'll also create intervention plans and contribute to emergency response strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop public safety training programs for communities

• Interpret and enforce fire safety legislation and codes

• Verify inspections of fire protection in public buildings

• Conduct fire investigations and maintain relevant reports

• Provide technical support and training for municipal firefighters

Requirements:

• Post secondary education in Fire Prevention (AEC)

• At least two years of related experience

• Strong knowledge of Fire and Building Codes

• Excellent communication skills in English and French

• Willingness to travel frequently within Nunavik
