Position: THIS POSITION IS RESTRICTED TO KDFN CITIZENS-Implementation Advisor Full-Time (70 hrs biweekly), Per
Location: Central Yukon (Dawson City)

Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) is seeking an Implementation Advisor. Reporting to the Director of Governance, this position is responsible for supporting the implementation of the KDFN Final and Self-Government Agreements.

The Implementation Advisor promotes and advances KDFN interests by providing strategic advice, research, and analysis on matters related to treaty implementation, governance, consultation, Aboriginal rights, and intergovernmental relations.

The successful candidate will possess strong strategic thinking, research, and communication skills. They will develop recommendations and policy positions, negotiate implementation arrangements, and represent KDFN interests in discussions with governments, organizations, and other partners. The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications
An equivalent combination of post‑secondary education, combined with significant current/lived experience in the areas identified below, will equally be considered.

Degree in First Nation Governance, Public Administration or a related field combined with significant experience in policy, intergovernmental relations or equivalent;

Experience in applying relevant public policy theory, appropriate research tools and analytical methodologies;

Significant experience leading and managing;

Considerable experience crafting and analyzing agreements, policies, briefing materials, agreements and discussion papers (preferably in a government setting);

Considerable experience providing analysis and recommendations on complex agreements and initiatives involving multiple partners (preferably in a government setting);

Working knowledge and experience interpreting Yukon Final & Self‑government agreements is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

Strategic thinking, critical analysis, and problem‑solving skills;

Ability to translate political direction into action;

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing, briefing notes, proposals, and presentations;

Excellent interpersonal, relationship‑building, and negotiation skills;

Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.

Knowledge of Yukon First Nations history within formalized education systems, residential schools and on‑going intergenerational effects specific to education and social programming is an asset. Familiarity with Kwanlin Dün First Nation history, culture, goals and aspirations is required for success in the role.

Conditions of Employment

An acceptable pre‑employment criminal records check with vulnerable sector search, valid class 5 Driver’s License, access to a personal vehicle (asset only); and standard First Aid & CPR (asset only).
