Working within the Strathcona County RCMP Detachment, the CPIC Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of information entered into the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database. The position is responsible for auditing, reviewing, and maintaining CPIC records to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures. Accurate and up-to-date records are essential for providing reliable operational information that supports frontline policing activities and helps safeguard both police officers and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, analyze, and validate police files prior to CPIC entry
Manage tasks within the PRO task queue to ensure records remain current and compliant
Support audits and implement policy changes directed by RCMP "K" Division
Maintain and monitor CPIC records, including updates, removals, modifications, and validations
Identify aging warrants and recommend appropriate action when warranted
Ensure that all active records in CPIC are valid and supported by corresponding police reports and documentation
Ensure compliance with RCMP detachment policies and procedures
Audit and assess warrants, protection orders, peace bonds, probation orders, restraining orders, and firearms prohibitions
Provide training and operational support to detachment staff regarding CPIC Web
Qualification sand
Skills:
High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a policing environment
CPIC Maintenance and CPIC Web training
Strong knowledge of police policies, procedures, and legal documentation at Detachment or national level is required
Experience using RCMP systems, including PROS, CPIC/Web, JOIN, ORCA, and NPIRS
Ability to assess, prioritize, and interpret sensitive information for CPIC entry and maintenance
Extensive experience reviewing police reports, court documents, and domestic violence-related files
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proven ability to produce highly accurate work while managing competing priorities
Extensive knowledge and familiarity of police reports and legal court documents
Conditions of Employment:
Ability to obtain RCMP Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance
