Duties

As a Trade Policy Research Coordinator, GS-0301-9/11/12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Coordinates research and analysis on trade and investment issues by reviewing economic and trade data, industry trends, and other relevant information.
  • Analyzes, compiles, and summarizes trade and investment data to support senior leadership and policy development.
  • Prepares briefing materials, reports, Congressional correspondence, testimony and other written products.
  • Coordinates administrative and operational support for the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
:
All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standards.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
:
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following:
    1) Assisting in the preparation of briefing materials, correspondence, reports, presentations, or other documents related to trade policy issues; and
    2) Collecting, Researching, and summarizing information on trade, economic, or international relations issues to support organization's goals.
OR
  • A master's or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited or pre-accredited college or university; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.B. or J.D degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
  • A combination of education and experience as listed above.

You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following:
    1) Analyzing trade, investment, economic, or international policy issues and identifying relevant trends, laws, or policy developments affecting trade outcomes;
    2) Preparing written analyses, briefing materials, Congressional correspondence, or presentations that summarize trade and investment issues; and
    3) Conducting research activities within a workgroup and utilizing relevant materials to assist in analysis.
OR
  • A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the competencies necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
  • A combination of education and experience as listed above.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following:
    1) Conducting research and analysis of international trade and investment issues, including evaluating U.S. and foreign trade policies, laws, negotiating proposals, and economic trends;
    2) Developing policy analyses and recommendations that contribute to the formulation of U.S. trade and investment policy and negotiating positions;
