Job Description
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients.

This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.

Experience

Minimum of one year experience in addictions/mental health would be desirable

Education

Mental Health & Addictions Counselling Diploma

Licenses

Valid Class 5 driver's license

Demonstrated skills with Addiction and Concurrent disorders assessment/counseling

Problem solving skills

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of how addictions impact the individual, community and families

Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies

Knowledge Transtheoretical Model of Change

Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms

Knowledge of co-current disorders and issues related to gambling addictions

Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model

Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.

Knowledge in group dynamics

Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
