Position
Radiation Therapist
Overview
Health Sciences North (HSN) is looking for Radiation Therapists at our Sault Ste. Marie location to ensure safe and accurate delivery of radiation treatment and related services to patients as prescribed by a Radiation Oncologist. The role includes work in CT, simulation, and dosimetry using Varian True Beam Machine and Philips CT Sim. The position offers competitive salary, vacation, extended health and dental benefits, relocation allowance up to $3,500 and other monetary incentives such as reimbursement of registration fees and/or a signing bonus up to $25,000.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe and accurate daily radiation treatments, educating, preparing, and positioning patients.
Assess verification images and take necessary corrective action.
Consult with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists regarding treatment plans and dose calculations.
Develop computerized treatment plans based on prescriptions and dose limits, performing quality assurance of plans.
Perform routine quality assurance tests on equipment and initiate corrective action as required.
Prepare electronic treatment charts, perform CT simulation, and fabricate customized accessories such as molds and immobilization devices.
Collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure quality patient care and ongoing professional education.
Evaluate patient care and satisfaction, formulate solutions and monitor improvement projects aligned with HSN’s Strategic Plan.
Participate in education and training on health and safety legislation, and promote health and safety on the work place.
Represent the department on committees and in meetings as required.
Qualifications
Current certificate of registration in Radiation Therapy with College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Preferred: Membership with Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
Current Certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a health care environment.
Knowledge of Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) / Ontario Medical Association (OMA) Communicable Disease Surveillance Protocols.
Experience or training in lean methodology for process improvement.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient information systems.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and discretion skills.
Commitment to safety of co‑workers and patients.
Successful Vulnerable Sector Check.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment; minimal supervision.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Good attendance record; ability to meet physical and sensory demands of the job.
Ability to travel between local sites.
Salary and Benefits
Hourly rate: $42.26–$52.64/hour (currently under review). The role includes competitive salary, vacation, extended health and dental benefits, a relocation allowance, additional monetary incentives, and participation in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP).
Employment Terms
Full‑time, permanent position.
