Full‑time Contract (until March 31, 2028, possibility of extension pending funding)

Salary: $44,197 – $46,888

Overview
Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services is a leader in First Nation Health, providing accessible, quality, culturally safe and holistic health care that supports the wellness of individuals, families, and communities. We work with 11 First Nation community partners to deliver primary health care, traditional healing, mental wellness and addictions, home and community support services, and health promotion services.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to individuals in group homes or residential settings, assisting with daily living skills, personal care and household tasks.

Offer culturally safe, compassionate, trauma‑informed support to Indigenous clients engaged in mental health and addictions treatment programs.

Assist clients in their well‑being journey by supporting daily routines, implementing culturally rooted programs, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, elders and staff.

Promote holistic Indigenous wellness principles and maintain a safe, respectful, nurturing environment.

Maintain appropriate documentation and support strategies.

Respond to crisis or behavioural concerns calmly and safely, following non‑violent crisis intervention protocols.

Work flexible hours and adapt to changing environments.

Required Skills

Diploma or certificate in Social Work, Addictions, Indigenous Wellness, or a related field.

Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with Indigenous communities, residential or land‑based healing programs, or in mental health/addictions settings.

Lived experience with recovery and/or traditional healing practices considered an asset.

Valid First Aid/CPR and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention certification, or willingness to obtain.

Experience working with Indigenous people, organizations, and communities.

Knowledge of Anishinabek Health and Traditional healing practices.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Clear criminal reference check is a condition of employment.

Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence.

Additional Requirements

Strong crisis‑response ability and calm behavioural management.

Strong interpersonal, customer service, organisational, planning, and time‑management skills.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to work within a team and handle confidential information.

Availability to work flexible hours.
