Peer Engagement Advocate

Position: Peer Engagement Advocate at Northern Health
Location: Smithers

Northern Health is seeking a Peer Engagement Advocate to foster community involvement in harm reduction. Your expertise will drive meaningful engagement among individuals with lived experiences.

In the role of Peer Advocate within the Specialized Community Services department, you will work directly with peers, focusing on health promotion and implementing harm reduction initiatives. Your insight as a past service recipient will guide your interactions and help improve community outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage peers in harm reduction program development

• Facilitate workshops and health promotion activities

• Collaborate with Indigenous and community organizations

• Implement monitoring and evaluation strategies

• Provide guidance and support to peers in need

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years working with peers

• Prior experience in mental health and substance use

• Grade 12 education with further training preferred

• Knowledge of Indigenous communities and health practices

• May require a valid BC Driver’s License
