Community Wellness Coordinator at Sheguiandah

Location: Manitoulin (Little Current)

Support the health of Sheguiandah First Nation members as a full-time Community Wellness Coordinator. This role emphasizes Indigenous culture and holistic wellness through community engagement.

The Community Wellness Coordinator reports directly to the Health Manager and is essential in promoting health and well-being within the Sheguiandah First Nation. A deep understanding of Indigenous culture is crucial for this position. You will conduct needs assessments, organize health promotion initiatives, and facilitate community workshops to enhance wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build relationships with community members of all ages

• Develop culturally suitable health promotion programs

• Provide individual and group counseling services

• Facilitate traditional healing practices and ceremonies

• Maintain accurate client records and report effectiveness

Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of Indigenous traditions and values

• Experience working within Indigenous communities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Relevant post-secondary education preferred

• Organizational skills for independent and team work
