Position: Mental Health Support Worker at Island Health
Location: Central Island (Chemainus)

Join Island Health as an Assertive Community Treatment Mental Health Support Worker, providing vital outreach services and life skills training to individuals with mental health challenges.

Your role is essential for client empowerment and support.

As a key member of a multidisciplinary outreach team, you will assist clients with mental health and addiction treatment, coach them in daily living skills, and advocate for their needs. This position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to ensure the delivery of quality community care tailored to each client's treatment plan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide community-based support services for mental health clients

• Assist in administering mental health and addictions treatment

• Teach life skills and motivate clients toward independence

• Report clients' progress and reaction to treatments

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and caregivers

Requirements:

• Diploma in Community Social Services or equivalent experience

• Minimum two years experience with mental illness or special needs

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Current Level C Basic Life Saving Certificate

• Valid Class 5 driver's license
