Description
  • Provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services.
  • Provide supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Make day‑to‑day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow‑up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence‑based and aligns with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, the code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinate the day‑to‑day operations of an assigned service area, monitor care delivery, identify service needs, assist other medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide follow‑up and feedback to staff.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.

AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information in real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.
