Position SummaryThe Schools Plus Mental Health clinician reports to the Manager, Outpatient Child & Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions. The clinician provides services directly in community schools within the geographically designated Schools Plus assigned schools. Schools Plus is a collaborative, comprehensive and student‑focused model. The clinician is a member of a school‑based multidisciplinary team and participates in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population in designated school settings.
The service focuses on early identification and intervention of mental health disorders for children and adolescents within the school population. The clinician acts as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services.
- Provide individual and group evidence‑based therapies to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders.
- Conduct assessment, clinical planning, treatment, intervention, and discharge planning for students.
- Collaborate with families to share information and implement family‑sensitive services that involve them in recovery.
- Perform crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment and intervention.
- Serve as liaison between students, schools, and community mental health resources.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and planning for school‑based services.
- Master’s degree in a clinical health‑related discipline (Masters in Social Work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Masters in Counseling, Masters in Nursing, Masters in Occupational Therapy).
- Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body.
- At least two years of relevant clinical experience, including assessment, planning, treatment, intervention, and discharge planning.
- Knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM‑V) for classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
- Skill in providing individual and group evidence‑informed therapies based on care plans.
- Skill in collaborating with families and implementing family‑sensitive services.
- Skill in crisis intervention and risk assessment for suicide and violence.
- Awareness of community resources and programs.
- Excellent problem‑solving, organizational and prioritization skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- High level of written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution.
- Competencies in other languages an asset;
French preferred.
Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience required. Candidates with less than two (2) years of experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Developmental) scale.
HoursPermanent full‑time position; 75 hours biweekly.
Compensation and BenefitsClinical Therapist: $42.21 – $58.30 hourly
Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $37.64 – $49.93 hourly
