What We Do
There has never been a more exciting time to be are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees, physicians, and partners in care. From Primary, Acute, and Mental Health, Dental, Specialty Clinics, Population Health and the WAHA Paramedic Service, the opportunities for growth are boundless. Who You Are
Knowledge of health promotion, disease prevention, and population health principles, including use of data and quality improvement approaches to inform care
Understanding of Indigenous determinants of health, health inequities, and the application of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and Indigenous harm reduction approaches
Understanding of traditional and land-based approaches to wellness and the unique context of the James and Hudson Bay region
Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills within NP scope of practice
Ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams and programs without supervisory responsibility
Demonstrates respect for and alignment with Indigenous perspectives, values, and ways of knowing, applying culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches
What You’ll Do
Delivers and supports culturally relevant health promotion and wellness initiatives grounded in Indigenous perspectives of health and well-being
Provides education on preventative health topics, including nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation, sexual health, mental wellness, and chronic disease prevention
Engages with communities to increase awareness and participation in health promotion and prevention initiatives
