Requirements:
At least 1 year working with individuals with autism and children
Masters level degree in Speech Language Pathology or equivalent
Active good standing registration with the College of Audiology and Speech/Language Pathology of Ontario (CASPLO)
* Active good standing registration with Ontario Autism Providers (OAP) List
Experience in augmentative communication
As a Speech/Language Pathologist, you will be required to perform the following duties and undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:
Collaborate with Sunshine Learning Centre to teach language and communication skills using evidence-based methods.
Conduct assessments and evaluations of speech, language, voice, and fluency.
Supervise and delegate tasks to our Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA)/Speech Assistant
Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities, such as direct therapy, play-based therapy, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Educate individuals, families, and caregivers on speech and language disorders, therapy techniques, and strategies for home practice and carryover.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and document progress.
Provide therapy to children with speech and language disorders.
Maintain records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as required.
Prepare and organize necessary materials required for running programming.
Report to your client's senior therapists for questions, clarifications, and requests regarding a client's programming.
Collaborate with colleagues to ensure treatment integrity.
Conduct staff and parent training on relevant language and communication strategies.
Collaborate with outside professionals (e.g., senior therapist, school team, OT) when it is appropriate and consented by the client's family.
Ensuring overall client satisfaction and well-being during their programing. This includes but is not limited to developing rapport with the client, establishing trust, engaging in motivating activities, and assisting the client through challenging moments.
