RN/BSW - Crisis Worker – Mobile Crisis Rapid Response and Emergency Department
The mobile crisis worker in conjunction with the Timmins police officer will provide acute crisis intervention to community members in a timely , client/family focused approach.

Emphasis will be placed on assessment, education, prevention, health maintenance,and restoration of health in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. The team will further provide individualized supportto assist in the resolution of their personal or emotional crisis. When required,MCRRT staff will be scheduled to provide crisis intervention services withinthe Emergency Department as part of the internal crisis team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Toprovide acute crisis assessment and intervention.

Effectively function within the frame work of their respective professional standards.

To participate as a member of MCRRT and work effectively with TPS and other community agencies.

Complete psycho social assessments and planning for effective intervention strategies.

Conduct interviews with the clients or families in crisis.

Coordinate with other community agencies in the provision of necessary services.

Toinform community agencies of any changes that may affect them.

Maintain exemplary public relations.

Informour community of resources available to benefit those in crisis.

Providea client focused philosophy in all interactions.

Provide assessment and intervention of psychiatric emergencies, in the community or the emergency department.

Provide brief intervention, consultation and follow-up.

Ableto implement strategies that effectively facilitate change.

Demonstrates leadership skills, sound judgment and diplomacy.

Strong assessment skills and ability to coordinate services.

Comprehensive knowledge of community mental health and addiction networks.

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Computer literacy with developed skills in various software applications including MS Office,RAI, ESP.

Ableto manage high volumes and varied work assignments with accuracy.

Knowledge and sensitivity to work in a culturally diverse environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Registered Nursing Diploma/Degree with a certificate in Mental Health and/or Bachelor of Social Work

Registered and in good standing with respective regulating body (CNO, CSWSSW)

Minimumof 5 years recent acute Mental Health and Addictions experience.

Demonstrates crisis intervention skills for both telephone and person-to-person situations.

Working knowledge of inpatient and community-based resources for children and adults with mental health and addictions needs.

Musthave the ability to function as a member of the multi-disciplinary health careteam.

Must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques associated with Crisis Intervention assessment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Abilityto elicit critical information in stressful situations and provide rapid assessment to formulate an immediate intervention.

Must possess computer skills and knowledge of Meditech and an ability to collect relevant data and reports.

Employment history which demonstrates regular attendance at work.

Mustbe available to work all shifts including weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary is to be determined based on qualification of the applicant

Enrollment in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan and Blue Cross (Health and Dental Benefits)
