Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the SENIOR/CHARGE TECHNOLOGIST, the General Duty Radiology Technologist – MRT performs assigned Diagnostic duties in accordance with their scope of training and experience. The MRT assists the radiologist in performing radiologic procedures, assists with training and orientation of technologists, participates in instructing students, provides direct patient care, and fulfills administrative and operational support functions required as part of the multidisciplinary team approach to service delivery.

Experience
  • Patient care experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology.
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists certification exam (CAMRT).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be a member of CAMRT-MB and CAMRT in good standing.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Must have the ability to start and establish IVs or commit to successfully completing the departmental Intravenous Certification Program within 3 months from the date of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical health to meet the requirements of the position and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
  • Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
  • Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight-bearing capabilities.
  • Must be able to lift and position clients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness.
  • May be exposed to radiation within acceptable limits.
  • May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
  • Must be able to push/pull portable equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must work with provincial safety and health officers or other employees in the continuous development of safe work practices.

This maternity/parental term may expire sooner than the date indicated, subject to a minimum of two (2) weeks’ notice.

Employment Conditions

The position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
