Position: Health Laboratory Technologist Wanted

Become a key player in patient care as a Health Laboratory Technologist with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This role involves crucial tests in hematology, chemistry, and transfusion medicine.

The position is based at Port Hardy Hospital and Port McNeill Hospital, with responsibilities extending to on-call work. Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and a focus on patient safety are essential for success in this role, supporting the overarching aim of providing high-quality laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct established laboratory tests in hematology and chemistry

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

• Train and mentor new laboratory staff

• Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and legislation

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment

Requirements:

• CSMLS certification in Medical Laboratory Technology

• Completion of a diploma in the field

• Recent relevant experience or completion of core courses in last two years

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

• Physical aptitude for laboratory tasks
