Casual Health Information Technician Position

Location: Palmerston

Join Palmerston & District Hospital as a Casual Health Information Management Technician. Utilize your coding expertise and health record knowledge to maintain data quality and compliance.

This role with North Wellington Health Care requires experience in health information management to support accurate coding and data abstraction. You will regularly assign diagnostic codes, maintain departmental standards, and serve as a resource for PHI inquiries. A proactive approach to various assignments ensures departmental efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records

• Abstract clinical and demographic information electronically

• Maintain data quality and productivity standards

• Submit coded data accurately to CIHI

• Process access requests for Personal Health Information

Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited Health Information Management Program

• Certification with the Canadian Health Information Management Association

• At least 2 years of recent relevant experience

• Proficient with Med
2020 and Meditech systems

• Excellent communication skills in professional settings
