Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. The CCSR team is looking for a Senior Social Content Specialist responsible for creating, managing, and curating organic and paid social media content that aligns with the Metrolinx brand identity, values and objectives in an accessible format, taking a proactive approach to approvals and collaborating across teams with a wide set of KPIs. This role supports the Manager, Social Media to shape and execute social media strategies and employs their considerable experience in organic and paid social media and performance analytics to advise a diverse set of business units across CCSR.
This role is focused on the Metrolinx brand, its regional channels and is dedicated to delivering value to our communities – whether that’s by helping them navigate construction, use transit to find a hidden gem or demonstrate how we’re connecting communities by building more transit across the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
What will I be doing?- Develop and execute social media strategies that align with the organization's goals and target audience, including managing complex paid social media strategies with multiple destination accounts and target audiences.
- Monitor, analyze and develop social media performance reports using tools like Sprout Social, You Tube Studio and Meta Business Manager to identify opportunities for improvement and track progress towards goals.
- Undertake complex technical work, including but not limited to setting up and managing social media advertising campaigns.
- Manage a high volume of quality content tailored to each social media platform and resonates with each account's target audience on short timelines and requiring different levels of approvals, ensuring the information is fact‑checked and accurate at time of posting.
- Manage and coordinate social media projects across multiple business units, including strategic alignment, content creation, approvals, distribution, and analytics.
- Work with internal stakeholders to define project goals, establish timelines, and manage competing priorities. Maintain open lines of communication, ensuring that everyone is aware of project progress and any changes to the plan.
- Use social media and project management tools to maintain a detailed social media content calendar, schedule, publish, and analyze content performance.
- Conduct competitive analysis to and keep up to date with industry trends, new social media platforms, and emerging technologies that could enhance the Metrolinx social media presence.
- Collaborate with producers, motion graphics designer and internal teams on creating engaging content including copy, graphics, and video while ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
- Advise on social media best practices, AODA requirements, compliance, and risk management.
Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Demonstrated experience in organic and paid social media management, strategy and content creation (including copy, graphic design and video) in a large brand or organizational setting.
- Deep understanding of all digital media platforms and social media, including Facebook, X, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube, Tik Tok, Meta Ads Manager, and Google Ads Manager.
- Well versed in the latest social media best practices, techniques, and associated principles.
- Superior oral and written communications skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work across departments, gathering resources to support strategy and prioritize workload.
