Your Role

The Surety Claim Analyst is responsible for investigating, analyzing, and resolving claims made against surety bonds. The role focuses on evaluating bond obligations, determining liability, mitigating losses, and ensuring claims are handled in compliance with legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

What you bring to the position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Construction Management, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in surety claims, or construction-related roles
  • Familiarity with construction law and bond forms
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of surety bonds, construction contracts, and indemnity agreements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret legal and financial documents
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Time management skills and ability to handle multiple claims
What you will do
  • Review and analyze surety bond claims to determine validity, coverage, and exposure
  • Investigate claim circumstances by reviewing contracts, bond forms, correspondence, and financial documents
  • Communicate with claimants, principals, obligees, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
  • Assess liability and recommend appropriate claim resolution strategies
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on disputed or litigated claims
  • Monitor bonded projects and principals for financial or performance issues
  • Negotiate settlements, recoveries, and indemnification where applicable
  • Maintain accurate claim files and documentation in claims management systems
  • Ensure compliance with internal guidelines, industry regulations, and legal standards
  • Prepare reports, reserve recommendations, and management updates
