Location: Outer Nunavut (Iqaluit)

Join the City of Iqaluit as an experienced Interpreter/Translator and enhance communication within the community. Excel in English and Inuktitut while interpreting for important council meetings.

This full-time, permanent position is focused on providing high-quality interpretation and translation services to ensure effective communication between Councilors, staff, and residents. You will be required to manage sensitive information, utilize translation software, and demonstrate strong writing skills. Suitable candidates will possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as an interpreter at council meetings

• Translate meeting notes and official correspondence accurately

• Operate computerized translation software proficiently

• Maintain confidentiality at all times

• Handle multiple priorities efficiently

Requirements:

• Completed secondary education with translation training

• Minimum 1 year experience as an Interpreter/Translator

• Strong keyboarding and computer skills

• Availability for evening meetings is a must

• Passed criminal record check essential
