Support communication as a Sign Language Interpreter at Olathe Hospital in Olathe Medical Pavilion

A. This part-time role focuses on providing interpreting services for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

The Sign Language Interpreter will ensure that all patients receive equal access to healthcare by adeptly interpreting in American Sign Language. This position includes scheduling appointments, managing call coverage quickly, and collaborating with various departments to enhance patient experiences. You'll draw from cultural knowledge to navigate unique communication needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in scheduling and coordinating appointments

• Provide interpreting services across departments

• Communicate effectively with patients and families

• Resolve cultural misunderstandings sensitively

• Collaborate with other interpreters as needed

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in a related field

• 1+ years medical interpreting experience required

• Valid certification from recognized interpreting bodies

• Strong understanding of Deaf Culture

• Excellent communication abilities
