Bridge Communication. Support Employees. Make a Difference.

At Ontario Plants, we operate at scale, supporting growers across North America through high-performance greenhouse production. As we continue to grow, we're looking for compassionate, professional, and proactive individuals who are passionate about helping people and creating a positive employee experience. Clear communication is essential to supporting our diverse workforce, and this role plays a key part in making that happen.

The Bilingual Employee Support Assistant plays an important role in supporting our Temporary Foreign Worker program by helping bridge communication between English- and Spanish-speaking employees and the company. Working primarily alongside the Human Resources team, this position helps ensure employees receive clear, accurate communication and support throughout their employment.

About the Role

The Bilingual Employee Support Assistant provides interpretation, translation, and administrative support primarily to the Human Resources team. While the role includes some administrative responsibilities, it is primarily field-based, requiring frequent travel to support employee onboarding, training sessions, workplace meetings, medical and government appointments, and other onsite and offsite activities requiring interpretation services. The role also provides interpretation support to other departments as needed.

Through professionalism, organization, and confidentiality, this position helps facilitate effective communication across the organization.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide accurate interpretation between English and Spanish during workplace meetings, health and safety training, operational training sessions, and other company activities.
  • Accompany Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) to medical appointments, government offices, banking appointments, housing-related matters, and other required off-site appointments, providing interpretation and communication support.
  • Support departmental training sessions by providing real-time interpretation to ensure Spanish-speaking employees fully understand the information being presented.
  • Translate forms, notices, presentations, training materials, and other company documents between English and Spanish, as assigned.
  • Assist the Human Resources team with administrative tasks, including document preparation, filing, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records, as required.
  • Support onboarding activities and employee documentation for Temporary Foreign Workers.
  • Provide interpretation support to operational departments during meetings, training sessions, and other workplace activities involving Spanish-speaking employees.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality while performing interpretation and administrative support duties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Professional Expectations
  • Maintain professional boundaries with employees at all times.
  • Serve as an impartial interpreter, communicating information accurately without adding personal opinions, advice, or interpretations.
  • Provide interpretation services only as directed by the Human Resources team or the appropriate department leader.
  • Do not communicate approvals, commitments, or decisions on behalf of the company. Any requests requiring approval or action must be directed to and authorized by the Human Resources department or the appropriate department manager before being communicated to employees.
  • Handle all employee information and conversations with discretion and confidentiality.
What You’ll Learn & Gain
  • Gain experience interpreting in professional workplace settings.
  • Strengthen your communication and organizational skills.
  • Learn about Canadian workplace practices and health and safety standards.
  • Develop experience supporting Temporary Foreign Workers.
  • Build confidence in working alongside Human Resources and operational leaders.
What Success Looks Like
  • Employees clearly understand workplace expectations, training, and company communications.
  • Temporary Foreign Workers feel supported during appointments and key employment milestones.
  • Interpretation is accurate, professional, and unbiased.
  • Appointments, documentation, and administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
