Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance duties and scheduled preventive maintenance on physical facilities, equipment and grounds.

Carry out general repair work on structures and equipment, responding to maintenance requests.

Assemble, move, deliver, set up and pick up furniture and equipment.

Repair, patch and paint damaged walls.

Assist the Plant, Building & Safety Manager in inspecting buildings, grounds and equipment and carry out preventive maintenance program actions.

Use PM Worx program for preventive maintenance schedules and process work orders.

Request necessary materials, supplies, parts and tools; maintain control of storage and use.

Perform and document internal and external inspections and audits.

Participate in emergency (disaster) plan and mock disaster exercises.

Work within Shannex fire and safety policies to train staff in fire safety, schedule drills and evaluate performance.

Take reasonable precautions to ensure health and safety of employees, residents and others.

Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

1-2 years’ experience in construction or building maintenance.

Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Advanced proficiency in English (other languages an asset).

Certification in Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing or Electrical trades (asset).

Blueprint reading knowledge (asset).

Clear Criminal Record Check and, where applicable, Vulnerable Sector Check before appointment.
