INTERNAL/ EXTERNAL POSTING C.U.P.E. LOCAL #1176 (CUSTODIAL STAFF) THE BLUEWATER DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD IS CURRENTLY SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR THE FOLLOWING CUSTODIAL POSITION GROW YOUR CAREER IN BLUEWATER

Position: Temporary Custodian (30 hours per week)

Position includes portable classrooms.

Schedule: Afternoon Shift (3:30 p.m. start)

Assignment may end earlier than anticipated if incumbent returns earlier than expected.

Reports to: Head Custodian/Assistant Head Custodian/School Principal/Supervisor, Plant Operations

Note: CUPE members must abide by all articles in the CUPE Local 1176 Collective Agreement.

• To abide by all Custodial related Plant practices and procedures, as well as follow all Board policies and procedures for Board Employees.
• To complete all assigned tasks.
• To be responsible for notifying the Head Custodian (HC) and/or Assistant Head Custodian (AHC) of repairs required to the building and equipment which are beyond your qualifications.
• To be responsible for equipment checks, minor maintenance and repairs.
• To be responsible for notifying the AHC, and/or HC of security breaches, mechanical or electrical failure or any other unusual circumstances.
• To draw from stock materials needed in meeting duties.
• To receive delivery of supplies and equipment.
• To work closely with our community education partners to help ensure the smooth operation of their events.
• To perform any other custodial duties as may be assigned.

• Secondary schooldiplomaorequivalent
• Access to technology and the Internet
• Must becapableofperforming a variety of repetitive,physical work(i.e., lifting, bending, pushing, pulling etc.)

• Previous experience in commercial/industrial cleaning
• Comfort with basic facility/grounds maintenance
• Ability to work well as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
• Basic computer skills (i.e., communicating via e-mail, accessing information and training)
• Effective communication skills
• Reliable transportation to and from worksites
