School Caretaker Facilities Maintenance

Maintain a clean, safe school facility with HRCE as a Caretaker using custodial expertise and routine maintenance skills. Work includes supervising assigned staff.
The Caretaker supports the Operations Services Department at a designated Halifax Regional Centre for Education facility. Reporting to the Building Management Supervisor, this position oversees daily operations and applies good energy management stewardship principles. Responsibilities cover building cleanliness, maintenance, security, and staff supervision. The work ensures an attractive, sanitary environment for facility users. Candidates need custodial or janitorial experience, Microsoft Office experience, and the ability to work varied shifts.

Knowledge of SAP is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain overall cleanliness of the school facility
Complete routine and preventative maintenance activities
Supervise daily facility operations and assigned staff
Maintain building security and sanitary conditions
Support good energy management stewardship principles
Requirements:
High School Diploma or academic equivalent
Two years HRCE custodial experience or three years alternate janitorial experience
Ability to lift 50 pounds for cleaning duties
Experience using Microsoft Office, including Outlook
Availability for day, evening, and night shifts
