Welder​/Fitter

Smith Steel & Fabrication is a leading manufacturer of specialized, all welded, steel tanks for light-duty and industrial bulk storage applications. Smith Steel & Fabrication has designed and fabricated round and square steel tanks from our location in Atwood Ontario for close to 50 years. Our products are all hand built, allowing us the ability to custom fabricate almost any tank to meet the specific requirements of our clients.

Smith Steel & Fabrication is about more than just tanks. Whether it’s a custom smoker, an industrial flare-stack, a stainless steel structure or just about anything else, our experienced team can design and fabricate it. Coupled with our large finishing bay, our capabilities ensure your project is completed within specifications, on time and on budget.

We are looking for a Fabricator to join our day shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read blueprints/drawing/sketches
• Fitting and welding of large tanks & parts
• Use of brake press, shear and band saw
• Polishing/finishing welds
• Assist with various shop projects, including shop maintenance

Requirements

Requirements:

• Completion of High School or equivalent
• Metal Fabricator/Fitter 437A or equivalent
• Previous 1-4 years of fabrication experience
• CWB tickets considered a strong asset
• You have a get it done attitude and are skilled at removing barriers
• You operate with a team spirit, not with ego; you want everyone, including yourself, to do their best work; you see your success as dependent on the success of the team
• You have the ability to think beyond the needs of the customer to point out errors and potential issues
• You are able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions, cope effectively with complexity and change, quickly understand and absorb new information and respond appropriately
• You are a straight shooter who gets to the point and can clearly communicate in both oral and written form

Salary Range For The Role:

$18.00 to $42.00 per hour
