Machinist; Beaverton

Position: Machinist (Beaverton)
Location: Beaverton

We are seeking a temporary machinist for 2‑6 months at an automotive manufacturer.

Job Duties   Study and interpret drawings, blueprints, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and materials for the job and set up requirements.
Set up and program CNC machinery as necessary.
Set up and program EDM wire machinery as necessary.
Set up machining equipment utilized by the organization to ensure equipment operations are at accepted standards for the type of tooling being used.
Provide verification dimensions of machined parts using precision measuring instruments.
Ensure workpiece dimensions are established to tolerance criteria.
Measure, examine, and test completed parts, identifying defects and ensuring conformance to specifications and blueprints.
Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining.
Detect equipment malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities, controls, or control media as required to ensure quality of production.
Fit and assemble machined metal parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
Be familiar with 3D CAD software, Key Creator, and Mastercam.
Knowledge with GD & T (Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning).
Perform other duties as required.
Work Conditions  Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb. Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel‑toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, ear protection, etc.
Overtime  Overtime as required.
Qualifications   High School Diploma.
Must have Certificate of Qualification for Machinist or 8 years of relevant experience.
Minimum 1 year working experience in CNC/EDM programming and operation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy setting.
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills.
Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Able to work well under pressure.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and improve dies.
Good understanding of presses and how they affect die performance and part quality.
