Location: Inside Passage and the Queen Charlottes (Queen Charlotte City)
Job Summary We are seeking Nurse Practitioners to join the primary care and urgent care team at Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella. The NP will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health professionals to provide high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care to the people of Heiltsuk Nation and Bella Bella.
Responsibilities Comprehensive assessment of patients and clients, diagnosing diseases, disorders and conditions.
Initiate treatment including health‑care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits, conditions, and employer policies and procedures.
Provide professional guidance to other health professionals and participate autonomously as a member of the interdisciplinary health team.
Collaborate with clients and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns with implications for clients, families and communities.
Develop and implement population and evidence‑based strategies to improve health and participate in policy‑making and quality improvement activities.
Participate in peer, program and self‑review to evaluate outcomes of services at the client, community and population level.
Maintain professional development, competence, and medical‑staff privileges as required.
Report to an Operational Director, Professional Practice, and have key accountabilities for quality assurance and patient safety within the Regional Department of Nurse Practitioners.
Qualifications Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Ability to perform the full scope of NP duties and responsibilities.
Experience applying knowledge of developmental stages, behavioral sciences, pathophysiology, psychopathology, epidemiology, evidence‑based practice to diagnosis and management.
Knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics to prescribing and evaluating treatment responses.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, physicians and other health professionals.
Capacity to critically assess health research literature and introduce evidence‑based education.
Competence in assessing population health trends and planning and implementing preventive and health‑promotion strategies.
Implementation and evaluation of planned change.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Leadership skills within a program and team setting.
