Licensed Practical Nurse

Location: Northeastern Alberta (Fort Chipewyan)

An exciting opportunity exists for a Licensed Practical Nurse looking to work to their full-scope of practice and who has a passion for providing patient- and family-centered care at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, located in the community of Fort McMurray. As an LPN, you will be primarily working in Day Surgery, but will also receive training in the Pre-Admission Clinic.

You will work within an interdisciplinary team, utilizing our values (AHS Cares) and Patient First Strategy in your practice to provide leading care to Albertans. The Day Surgery LPN is responsible for providing pre- and post-operative patient care using the nursing process, in accordance with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), demonstrating competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient care in all settings, and acting as a patient advocate and link between other units and the Operating Room and/or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently offers a Fort McMurray Allowance up to an annual maximum of $12,480, payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a Day Surgery and/or Pre-Admission Clinic unit.
