ROLE
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a valued member of the interdisciplinary team within the department and organization. They are responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality patient care by assessing and identifying patient needs, implementing and monitoring the patients’ medical plan, and following HPHA policies and procedures. Additionally, the Registered Nurse must follow nursing processes within the profession’s and licensures scope of practice.
They will provide education, advice and support to patients and family members.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Excellent physical assessment skills
Ability to understand and interpret typical and atypical telemetry and cardiac monitoring preferred
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
Minimum of 2 years recent clinical nursing experience in Stroke Care/Rehabilitation preferred
Recent/related courses, in-services in Stroke Care/Rehabilitation nursing preferred
Clinical Nurse Educators that offer on-site training
Clinical Scholars available for on unit assistance and questions
Preceptor/Peer Mentorship Opportunities
Collaborative Team Environment
Nurse Support Line (Experienced Nurses or Registered Respiratory Therapists available for advice on non-emergent issues)
