Heritage and Natural Resource Manager Haida Gwaii

Step into a pivotal role with the Council of the Haida Nation as the Heritage and Natural Resource Manager in Masset, Haida Gwaii. Oversee programs, collaborate closely, and manage essential resources to support Haida stewardship.

As the Heritage and Natural Resource Manager, you will report to the Director of Lands and lead efforts to implement the Strategic Land Use Agreement and other vital protocols. Your expertise will cover Forest Stewardship, GIS Mapping, and technical support while managing a dedicated team. This role emphasizes collaboration and is crucial for enhancing the natural resources and cultural integrity within Haida Gwaii.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee Heritage & Natural Resources operations and compliance

• Supervise seasonal and regular staff while ensuring training

• Develop and maintain HNRD programs, budgets, and work plans

• Participate in management oversight bodies as assigned

• Provide support for emergency and high-risk situations

Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Management or related field

• Minimum three years of relevant experience or equivalent

• Strong communication and collaboration skills

• Knowledge of Haida culture and natural history

• Valid class 5 B.C. driver’s license
