Join the Department of Natural Resources in Whycocomagh as a Forestry Technician. Drive sustainable forestry, wildlife management, and public education initiatives in this permanent position.
We seek a dedicated Forestry Technician to support departmental programs in managing forests, wildlife, and recreational resources. Applicants should have a recognized forestry diploma, experience in compliance monitoring, and strong communication skills. This role demands physical fitness and the ability to work in both office and outdoor settings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage Crown and private land resources
• Monitor compliance with forest sustainability regulations
• Conduct wildlife studies and biological surveys
• Operate and maintain parks and vehicles
• Liaise with the public for education efforts
Requirements:
• Two-year forestry or natural resources diploma
• Knowledge of wildlife management processes
• Valid NS driver's license (minimum Class
5)
• Experience with GPS systems and Arc View software
• Strong judgment and crisis response skills
Engage in impactful forestry and wildlife programs while ensuring sustainable resource management in Nova Scotia.
