About the Opportunity
Country Prime Meats is looking for a full‑time Quality Control & Assurance Manager based in Lac La Hache, BC.
Reporting to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in leading the QA department, overseeing a team of Quality Control staff and QA Technicians, and ensuring the facility meets all food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring products are manufactured to meet industry specifications and customer requirements, while maintaining compliance across all quality assurance and food safety programs.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Planning and leading the quality department, ensuring HACCP system requirements are consistently met
Developing, maintaining, and reviewing quality assurance programs and food safety records
Conducting and supporting employee training for GMP, HACCP, SQF, and related programs
Monitoring production processes to ensure quality standards are met from raw materials through to finished products
Overseeing documentation and ensuring completion of HACCP program requirements on a daily basis
Leading internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with GFSI standards and regulatory requirements
Acting as the primary point of contact for CFIA and supporting plant compliance
Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives
More About You
To qualify, you will ideally bring 3–5+ years of progressive experience in quality within a manufacturing environment, along with a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science or a related discipline; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. HACCP and SQF certifications are required. You must also have a Driver’s license and reliable transportation to access this rural location.
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Experience in the food or meat processing industry
Knowledge of quality systems such as GMP, HACCP, and SQF (SQF 10/SQFI)
Experience leading or supervising a QA or quality control team
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and audit processes
Experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing or production environment
Proficiency with MS Office and quality‑related systems
Ability to manage documentation, SOPs, and compliance records
