Opportunity
As a member of the FSQA team, the FSQA Specialist is accountable for the execution of the HACCP system, Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. The FSQA Specialist is a key member of the facility management teams and is responsible for driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced and demanding environment. They will establish and maintain positive relationships with regulatory bodies.

Base Salary: $59,000 – $87,000 CAD base pay annually.
Base salary reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. It may vary based on skills, experience, education, and other organizational requirements.
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life
Ensure that the HACCP system (pre‑requisite and HACCP plans) is up to date per current SFCR and other legislative requirements.
Provide technical guidance on HACCP, BRC, and Food Safety to production staff.
Maintain HACCP and pre‑requisite programs by auditing, monitoring, scheduling, verifying, and validating results.
Execute initiatives to improve quality and safety of processes and products based on facts and data.
Track and trend critical food safety and quality data for continuous improvement.
Execute Hold and Release Program in SAP.
Act as point of contact for CFIA, responding to and ensuring completion of SIP tasks.
Assist CFIA inspectors during performance of their SIP tasks.
Investigate complaints, develop, and submit responses for customer and consumer complaints.
Prepare Non‑Compliance Reports (Deviations) and in‑house disposition of materials on hold, completing risk assessments for product disposition.
Maintain and update BRC and business unit Food Safety and Quality programs/SOPs.
Follow up on deviations and issue corrective actions as needed.
Support and lead internal and external audits (BRC, customer‑requested, CFIA, etc.).
Assist with internal audits to comply with pre‑requisites, HACCP plans, BRC, and customer requirements.
Support new product launches by ensuring hazards are identified and the HACCP plan is updated.
Verify monitors and documentation.
Effectively train, coach, and motivate employees.
Manage QMS programs via SAP and address deviations with relevant departments.
Develop a constructive and positive work environment through excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Participate in facility leadership meetings and lead food safety meetings.
Be proactive on the processing floor to implement corrective action and resolve issues.
Provide coverage for QA Supervisor, QA technician, or other roles as needed.
Maintain a positive employee relations environment by treating employees with respect and communicating openly.
Adhere to all policies and procedures for Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and customer specifications daily.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience.
3–5 years of experience in the food industry preferred.
Solid understanding and experience with HACCP system implementation.
Solid understanding of SFCR requirements.
Understanding of sanitation, CCPs, and GMPs.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Knowledge of SAP (RD and QM), Power BI, SharePoint, and proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to work effectively on a cross‑functional leadership team.
Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.
